Rwanda lost as much as 20% of its total population. In the aftermath, a large percentage of Rwanda’s population were women; the majority being widows, victims of rape and HIV/AIDS; destitute with no hope for the future. Rwanda “Beads of Hope” was created to provide the women of Rwanda an opportunity to earn an income by using an old Rwandan traditional skill of bead weaving and crochet.
